Where she come from? Where has she gone? Who was seen in the back seat of her car?
If some one says the Earth is flat, there is a collective sigh and the person is ignored. When Galileo championed Copernicanism there was an uproar. Why? Because he might be right (he was) and it shook the fundemental beliefs of the flock.
I remember the first time I caused shock here at RGP. It wasn't when I boasted how good I looked in my PS togs. It wasn't even when I was critical of a regular poster's rude and obscene language. No, it was when I casually mentioned there was no scientific evidence that heart bypass surgery extended life. You'd of thought I'd nailed The Ninety- Five Theses on the Church door. I then added, with all the medical breakthroughs in the last few hundred years, people do not live longer then they used to. Seeing how much fun this was, a legend was born.
I must admit it has been great fun. Watching so many of the dimmer bulbs sputter and fizzel. The language, the insults, the kill-filling and the lame arguements all reenforce the notion that there are many here who besides being ignorant, are lacking confidence in their basic beliefs.
I like to argue, I've said it before. I can take either side of most debates. But, the spastic misinformed response of many have just forced me to take a hard lined stance.
It has been great fun, and I hope we can continue down this road.

She will be back. As long as there are Irish Mikes, Fl.Turbos, Bubs, Travels, et al, there will always be a Bea. Enjoy your vacation, Bea, your work here is not done.

IIRC, you first created a shock here at RGP when you posted something really nasty about cats.

Please tell me it was crossposted to alt.tasteless and rec.pets.cats...

30 year study of 1000 someodd patients who underwent CABG using some of the first techniques. You completey ignored it. It showed definite longetivity increases and strong suggestion that the increases were getting larger as newer tequniques came on board.

I must respectfully disagree. The "Cats" post was the first that incited a death threat (not the last to threaten violence), but as you can see there was a great deal of animosity before. I will now submit the original essay and New Haven Willie's immediate response. BTW I don't think I crossposted to alt.tasteless, the response here was good enough.
Cats
1. Kitties all grow up and become resentful hate filled Cats who, because they cant do anything useful, go outside and kill birds for sport, returning only to eat your crappy cat chow.
2. If they were honest, which they are not, your cat would tell you how much it HATES YOU!!!
3. I cannot think of a single thing a Cat does which justifies its existence. Dogs can protect you, bring stuff back to you, and generally understand they are subordinate. Cats are evil.
4. If you lose your Cat, get another one. DO NOT POLLUTE THIS EARTH WITH SIGNS FOR YOUR STUPID LOST CAT. I dont put sign up with pictures of my used toilet paper.
5. Dont screw up a perfectly good girl by getting her a cat. Men will automatically try to use her as a trash bin if you do. Get her a dog and teach her that the dog is better than any man.
6. LOST CAT signs are a cry for help. They say that you are a damaged person who will let anything with two legs or more that licks its own ass control you and put you down for fun.
7. If you have lost your cat, it likely was used for sturgeon bait - which is a blessing to you and a small mercy for this world. Halibut also love them and they hold a hook in rough water.
Thank you.

I'm so glad that I hated you before you wrote that, you piece of shit. I have made joking remarks about wishing that Paul or K9 would die but I never meant it. In YOUR case, I would slit your throat and laugh as you thrashed. I would have done that _before_ you wrote this but I feel better about that opinion now.
Cordially as always, -- Will in New Haven
See the hating me before preface? I was able to get under his skin waaay before "Cats". LOL Others being critical about Jews, racial and ethnic minorities, Catholics, either major party, or so many other critisims has not garnered a death threat, but talk smack about kitties, well watch out, them there's fightin' words.

Point taken. I still don't get the purpose of your "Cats" post, though. There doesn't seem to be much truth to it, and it's not at all humorous.
