What you are talking about is search engine optimization - SEO for
short - which basically means optimizing one's site for the search
engines.

First of all it is quite possible that your blog does appear in the
search engine results but just appears lower in the rankings. How
many pages of search results did you look through?

All those sites that ARE appearing in your search engine results have
just better optimized their sites for those keywords that you want
YOUR site to be associated with and what YOU have to do to get your
site higher in the rankings is to essentially "out-optimize" those
sites that are appearing higher than your own - you do that by
incorporating those search terms more into the content of your blog.
